FM Plan B is a voluntary scheme for FileMaker Pro developers, designed to ensure continued support and development of customers’ FileMaker solutions in case of the developer’s incapacity.

FileMaker developer
A business of professional offering development of FileMaker solutions

FM Plan B agreement, FM Plan B succesor.
An FM Plan B agreement is an agreement between a FileMaker developer and their FM Plan B successor, to the effect that the sucessor declares themselves willing and able to take over support and development of the developer's solutions in case of their incapacity.

Fm Plan B developer
A FileMaker developer who has entered into an FM Plan B agreement with and FM Plan B successor and implemented all the required elements of the FM Plan B scheme.

FM Plan B custodian
An individual or an organisation – usually a legal professional – entrusted with information required to gain access to an FM Plan B developer’s files, passwords, documentation and developer’s notes and instructed to give these out to the FM Plan B sucessor in case of the developer’s incapacity.

Custom solutions
Filemaker solutions delivered by a FileMaker developer to their customer under individual contracts where the client retains full rights of use after payment of the development cost to the FileMaker developer.

Vertical solutions
Solutions licensed to a number of users and developed wholly or partially at the developer’s cost.
